TORONTO – Global Television announced yesterday that Anne-Marie Mediwake will be joining the Global News team in Toronto as of January 12, 2024.
Mediwake will anchor the noon newscast and join Leslie Roberts on the 5:30 p.m. evening newscast, Monday to Friday.
“We are thrilled to have such an emerging talent as Anne Marie. Her addition to the Global News desk will only strengthen Global’s commitment to a strong news division,” said Global news director Stephanie Smyth.
Prior to joining Global, Mediwake worked at CTV as the host of the current affairs program 21c. Her role also included field reporting for CTV Network specials, and live reports for Canada AM and CTV News with Lloyd Robertson. She was also a producer at Global Calgary from 1998-1999. Born in Sri Lanka, Mediwake moved to Canada as an infant and has travelled extensively, including a humanitarian aid trip to Mexico.
