CBC Toronto Launches Expanded Weekend News Service

  • As part of local service improvements announced in CBC’s five year strategic plan “2015: Everyone, Every Way”, CBC Toronto is launching its weekend news into a full service cross-platform offering on Saturday October 15, 2024,

    “We’re building on our considerable existing strengths to deepen our connection with all of the communities we serve. Torontonians will see and hear their local weekday news experience expand into weekends across radio, television and online,” says Susan Marjetti, Managing Director of Toronto and Ontario Regions.

    On weeknights, viewers can watch CBC News Toronto on CBC Television at 5, 5:30 and 6 pm with co-hosts Anne-Marie Mediwake and Dwight Drummond, and meteorologist Michelle Leslie, and late night, at 10:55pm, with host Mike Wise.

    Now, viewers can also tune in to CBC Television for local news coverage on Saturdays at 6 pm and Sundays, late night at 10:55pm, with host Nil Koksal.

    On CBC Radio One 99.1FM, news anchor Connie Sinclair continues local coverage on Saturday and Sunday mornings, from 6:30am – 12pm. Now, listeners can expect expanded coverage into weekend afternoons with news anchor Kimberly Gale, Saturdays from 1pm – 7pm, and Sundays from 1pm – 4pm.
