Bell Media’s MuchFACT Announces Fund Recipients for February Music Committee

  • Bell Media’s MuchFACT (A Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent) announced today the 25 fund recipients from the February 10, 2024 music committee meeting. With more than 201 applications considered, a total of $467,496 was awarded to Canadian musicians in the following categories: Music Content Package, Music Videos, Online Music Video/Project, and Digital Tools.

    MuchFACT is proud to once again sponsor the JUNO Award for Video of the Year with three out of five nominees being MuchFACT recipients. This includes: “For the Town” by SonReal, directed by Peter Huang; “Dark Days” by Pup, directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux and Chandler Levack; and “Virgins” by Death From Above 1979, directed by Eva Michon.

    Additionally, seven MuchFACT recipients are also nominated for the annual Prism Prize, which celebrates the best in Canadian music videos from the past year. This includes: “Suplex” by A Tribe Called Red, directed by Jon Riera; “Visions” by Absolutely Free, directed by Scott Cudmore and Michael LeBlanc; “ Virgins” by Death From Above 1979, directed by Eva Michon; “How Can It Be” by Harrison, directed by Maxime Lamontagne; “Dark Days” by Pup, directed by Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux and Chandler Levack; “For the Town” by SonReal, directed by Peter Huang; and “Black Body” by Spek Won, directed by Mark Valino.

    Bell Media’s MuchFACT has helped to launch the careers of some of Canada’s best and brightest artists, including A Tribe Called Red, Arcade Fire, Arkells, Barenaked Ladies, Carly Rae Jepsen, Celine Dion, Down With Webster, Dragonette, Feist, Grimes, k.d. lang, Keys N Krates, k-os, Majiid Jordan, Matt Mays, Metric, Mother Mother, Nelly Furtado, Sam Roberts, Serena Ryder, The Tragically Hip, and many more. MuchFACT has also had a great impact on developing Canadian directors, many of whom have gone on to direct award-winning music videos, as well as feature films and documentaries.

    The next deadline for submitting MuchFACT applications is Thursday, March 10, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET. Applications can be submitted at www.muchfact.ca.
