OAB Confirms Corus' COO to Participate in Executive Town Hall

    The Ontario Association of Broadcasters is proud to present CONNECTION 2024 to be held on Thursday, November 7th at the Toronto Airport Marriott Hotel, 901 Dixon Road.  CONNECTION 2024 - Digital and Beyond, whether you are in management, sales, programming or digital, you won't want to miss this opportunity to connect with industry colleagues and hear these speakers!

    This year's program will be the best ever, with media consultant/analyst Scott Cuthbertson kicking things off with an insightful industry perspective. The first session transfers over into the highly topical digital world with Mitch Joel. Mitch is an internationally renowned expert in digital media whose content will be relevant to all commercial broadcasters today. The final morning session is Steve Jones' entertaining presentation, "Brand like a Rock Star", so pertinent for broadcasters in today's brand-oriented world. The Luncheon features updates from the CRTC Ontario Commissioner, Raj Shoan and Chair of the CAB's CEO Radio Council, Paul Ski, who is also CEO of Rogers Radio.

     Running parallel to the morning session, the OAB Sales Training Session will feature Matt Sunshine, Executive Vice President, The Center for Sales Strategy. Matt's session will include practical hands-on-training for Sales people, discuss why digital is important, how its growing, and give you ideas and tactics to increase your broadcast and digital sales. Participants will receive a Certificate upon completion of the course. Sales people are invited to attend this session for only $99 for members, ticket includes breakfast and keynote Luncheon entrance.

    The afternoon program begins with an Industry Executive Town Hall. Building upon the traditional "President's Panel", this one-hour session will be expanded to include key high level industry executives from different areas of the broadcast industry providing their perspective on the state of radio, television and advertising. The Town Hall, moderated by Ross Davies, features panelists:

    *Caroline Gianias, EVP Trade & Communications Activation, Aegis Media;

    *Patrick Grierson, President, Canadian Broadcast Sales;

    *Catherine Kelly, VP Electronic Operations, BBM Canada;

    *Doug Murphy, Chief Operating Officer, Corus Entertainment

    *Geoff Poulton, President, Vista Radio;

    *Raj Shoan, Ontario Commissioner, CRTC;

    *Paul Ski, CEO Radio, Rogers Broadcasting Ltd.

    The Digital Panel sponsored by Triton Digital will provide insight into the way we operate those digital adjuncts to our business. Lead by Steve Jones this session will feature panelists:

    *Pary Bell, Vice President & General Manager, Rogers Digital Media;

    *Sandy Hurst, COO, SoCast

    *Dave McDonald, VP, Director, Radio Investments: Mediabrands Canada;

    *Gavin McGarry, President, Jumpwire Media; and

    *Ron Waksman, Senior Director, Online & Current Affairs, Global News;

    CONNECTION 2024 concludes with Broadcasting: the Next 5 Years - an Interactive Industry Session. This wrap-up session will engage attendees in an unique interactive exercise and discussion, and provide takeaways from a day of ideas and insights. This Vision Critical presented interactive session will be moderated by Jeff Vidler, Chuck McCoy and Rob Dilworth. You will be part of the panel. Just bring yourself and your mobile phone!

    The Gala Awards Dinner honours the best in community service by Ontario's broadcasters. The evening will be highlighted by the Induction of JR Shaw into Ontario's Broadcasters Hall of Fame. JR was born in Ontario and has made an immense contribution to broadcasting in Ontario through the operations of Shaw Media (Global Television) and Corus Entertainment. The conference will also feature performances by FACTOR supported music artists at the Luncheon and Awards Gala events.
