CBC-TV presents a brand new weekly half-hour music show, in conjunction with CBC’s digital music service CBCMusic.ca entitled CBC Music Backstage Pass. The show will premiere on Friday, September 13. The CBCMusic.ca flagship show, hosted by Garvia Bailey, will grant viewers unrestricted access to the country’s favourite bands and musical artists. CBC Music Backstage Pass will feature intimate and exclusive performances as well as in-depth artist profiles from new and established Canadian acts. All of the content is unique and originates from the highly successful digital music service CBCMusic.ca. Full episodes of the show are also available at CBCMusic.ca.

The first episode of CBC Music Backstage Pass will feature intimate performances shot on location including Saskatoon rock band The Sheepdogs in Memphis at the legendary Sun Studio, Montreal jazz songstress Nikki Yanofski and legendary producer Quincy Jones in Los Angeles, Burlington natives and YouTube sensation Walk Off The Earth in Toronto, and rapper and producer Classified in Halifax. Upcoming episodes will feature one-of-a-kind performances and interviews with Sam Roberts Band, Metric, Serena Ryder, Matt Mays and many more.

In addition to CBC Music Backstage Pass, CBC-TV will also air an hour-long special, the CBCMusic.ca Festival, beginning on Friday, September 13 and hosted by Jian Ghomeshi from CBC’s Q. The special will feature musical highlights carefully chosen from some of the stellar performances shot exclusively by CBCMusic.ca at the inaugural music festival. The sold-out CBCMusic.ca Festival show was held on May 25th at Toronto’s Echo Beach, and was one of the biggest music festivals of summer 2024 featuring a diverse line-up of musicians. The CBCMusic.ca Festival television special will showcase performances from the Sam Roberts Band, Of Monsters and Men, Kathleen Edwards, Sloan, Shakura S’Aida and Jarvis Church.
