CRTC Revokes CityNews Licence on Request

The Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission has revoked the broadcasting licence issued for the CityNews Channel.

Rogers Broadcasting Ltd. had requested the revocation of the broadcasting licence for the national, English-language specialty Category B service (formerly known as CITY News Toronto). The operation has already ceased TV program delivery.

Given the licensee’s request, the CRTC noted, and pursuant to sections 9(1)(e) and 24(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the licence was revoked in Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2022-530.
