1310News, Ottaw Launches Refreshed News-Sports-Talk Format,

    Rogers Radio station 1310News announced a refreshed programming schedule focusing on the key areas of news, sports, and talk. Beginning tonight, listeners will hear the latest breaking news and sports, and entertaining, informative talk, from Monday to Friday, with the addition of premium sports content from all-sports radio station Sportsnet 590 The FAN. Weekends will continue to deliver around-the-clock sports coverage and sports talk, with live simulcasts of Sportsnet 590 The FAN programming, and the return of Toronto Blue Jays regular season games next year.

    1310News will continue its multiplatform newswheel coverage of everything that matters to listeners in Ottawa, Monday to Friday. 

    “This refreshed programming schedule and new format reflect the changing needs of our audience and we’re confident it will bring new energy to Ottawa’s radio waves,” said Karen Parsons, Program Director, 1310News. “Rogers Media is home to Canada’s leading sports media and radio brands, and by integrating Sportsnet content into our schedule, 1310News will offer a wider scope of topics that matter to listeners in the Ottawa area.”

    The new 1310News schedule offers a stellar lineup of Sportsnet programming beginning tomorrow, including Canada’s most-listened-to sports talk presentation, Prime Time Sports, hosted by award-winning broadcaster Bob McCown. Known for his strong opinions, vast sports knowledge, and influential personality, McCown, along with rotating co-hosts Stephen Brunt and Damien Cox, debate, discuss, and analyze the hard-hitting sports issues of the day. Prime Time Sports airs weeknights. Also airing on 1310News is Hockey Central @ Noon, weekdays from noon to 1 p.m., with hosts Daren Millard, analyst and Stanley Cup champion Nick Kypreos, and former NHL general manager and head coach Doug MacLean delivering entertaining and informative hockey talk, breaking news, insight and opinions. The afternoon continues with Sportsnet radio fan-favourite Tim and Sid,  where hosts Tim Micallef and Sid Seixeiro debate on hot-button issues from the world of sports.

    New talk show Talk to the Hand, hosted by veteran Ottawa broadcaster Ed Hand, also debuts tomorrow and explores the day’s hot topics. Airing weekdays, Hand will debate and discuss everything from news to sports, politics, culture, and entertainment with listeners and his roster of experts – all with a local focus.
