Virgin Radio Vancouver and AM 650 (as part of the Astral Radio family) report they are launching North America's first-ever paperless radio production system.

From commercial development planning to the station's Web content, a new central system informs employees and management what is being done every step of the way - ensuring no more missed deadlines and greatly reducing paper consumption.

After testing, tracking and implementing the new system for some six months, the stations are up and running with Workflow, a centralized, cloud computer program that systemizes all the normal, day-to-day tasks at a radio station.

"We are thrilled to implement this type of technology," reports Brad Phillips, Vice-President British Columbia Operations. "Not only does this new system allow us to reduce our paper consumption by 95%, it also systemizes our processes, driving project efficiency and ensuring that nothing gets missed along the way. We think this will revolutionize the way radio stations operate."

Virgin Radio Vancouver and AM 650 (as part of the Astral family) are the first organizations to launch this system in North America.

Workflow is an Australian invention by a company called Radio Work Flow.

Virgin Radio 95.3 and AM 650 are part of Astral, one of Canada's largest media companies. It operates over 100 pay and specialty television, radio, out-of-home advertising and digital media properties.
