CBC's Wendy Mesley To Fight Back With 'Underdogs'
Everyone has been there—feeling helpless and outgunned by a huge company. Everyone is an underdog at some point. And everyone has the right to fight back. On UNDERDOGS, viewers will see, and relate to, real fights, with real frustration, as exasperated consumers come face to face with company heads to fight for fairness and redress. Hosted by Wendy Mesley, this four-part series premieres November 16.

As the host of UNDERDOGS, Wendy Mesley does whatever it takes to fight for the little guy. Throughout her career, Mesley has been well known for bringing tough and spirited questions to big companies and government. Mesley fights for the truth behind the spin, always looking out for the rights of the underdog.

In UNDERDOGS, the camera captures amazing moments of frustration as the underdogs let loose on company heads. And with Mesley and the cameras turning up the heat, these big companies have no choice but to pay attention to problems they may never normally deal with.

"This is the ultimate reality series, in that it deals not just with real people, but real problems", says Mesley. "Our underdogs are fighting 'for the principle of the thing'—they want these companies to do right by them. I guarantee that viewers will be shouting at their TVs, rooting for the underdogs as we confront the big guns."

After a national selection process involving over 1,000 consumer complaints, the UNDERDOGS team chose the strongest cases worth fighting for. Each week Mesley takes on the cases of three underdogs up against three big companies. Every story promises powerful and inspiring moments as these average Canadians finally have the opportunity to be heard. The cases range from small complaints, to major safety concerns, including new cars that don't perform, binding cell phone contracts, and winning contestants never receiving prizes.

Along the way, UNDERDOGS reveals helpful tips and tactics anyone can use to be heard. Entertaining and empowering, each episode promises to reveal great triumph as several of the underdogs win their cases against big companies.

The executive producer of UNDERDOGS is Tassie Notar. The senior producer is Michael Gruzuk. UNDERDOGS is a CBC Television production.
