CHUM Wins Gold Ribbon Awards
CHUM Limited is proud to announce it has won five Gold Ribbon Awards, presented by the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Tuesday at their 80th Anniversary Convention in Vancouver.

The Gold Ribbon Awards are among the most prestigious in the Canadian broadcasting industry and recognize outstanding productions in radio, television, specialty and pay services, and community service.

"We're very proud that the talent, dedication and service of our employees and stations across Canada has been recognized publicly by our peers in the broadcasting industry," said Jay Switzer, CEO, CHUM Limited.

Gold Ribbon Award for Promotion of Canadian Talent : CHBN-FM, Edmonton (Bounce Showdown 2021)

The Bounce Showdown is an annual, two-day talent competition, where as many as 250 participants compete in front of industry leaders to showcase their vocal abilities. Previous judges have included Canadian Idol's Farley Flex and Canadian recording artist Jully Black. The Bounce Showdown will continue its search for Canadian talent for a third year in Spring 2021.

Gold Ribbon Award for What Radio Does Best : CHUM-FM, Toronto (CHUM Disaster Relief Day)

On January 5, 2021, CHUM Disaster Relief Day -- an 18-hour media blitz on all CHUM Radio and Television stations across Canada -- raised $4.5 million for victims of the South Asian Tsunami. This was the largest amount raised by a national media fundraising initiative in Canadian Red Cross history. CHUM-FM accepted the award on behalf of all CHUM stations nationwide.

Gold Ribbon Award for Community Service - Small Market : CHMI-TV, Winnipeg (Fame for Food)

Fame for Food is an innovative opportunity created by Citytv in the holiday spirit of giving. Broadcasting live from two local Sobey's grocery stores, this annual food drive offers members of the public, business and not-for-profit organizations a chance at "15 seconds of fame" with their donation, by recording a greeting with on-air talent that airs on Citytv and its website. The 2021 campaign raised 58,450 lbs of non-perishable food items.

Gold Ribbon Award for Entertainment Special/Series : MuchMusic, Toronto (MuchMusic Video Awards 2021)

The 16th Annual MMVAs brought together thousands of fans, artists and guests for a celebration of music and a certified media blowout. Acclaimed for its surprising live mix of red-carpet fashion, multiple street-level performance areas, and an unparalleled critical rating as "Canada's No. 1 party" - the broadcast reflects MuchMusic's reputation as a centre for celebrity culture in Canada.

Gold Ribbon Award for Outstanding Community Service: Lowell Green, Host of The Lowell Green Show, CFRA-FM, Ottawa

Lowell Green is one of Canada's most successful and influential radio hosts. A staple of the Ottawa airwaves since joining CFRA in 1960, Lowell has used the power of his medium and his influence to motivate his listeners and decision-makers to make positive impacts on their community.
