Space Congratulates Orphan Black Star on Emmy Win

    Space congratulates Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany on her first-ever Primetime Emmy Award win, as announced last night by The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.   The star of the hit Canadian series, produced by Temple Street, a division of Boat Rocker Studios, in association with Space and BBC America, received the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work as multiple characters in the Space original series Orphan Black. Maslany is the first-ever Canadian actor on a Canadian series to have received an Emmy Award for acting in a dramatic series. Nominees in Maslany’s category included heavy-hitters Claire Danes (HOMELAND), Viola Davis (HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER), Taraji P. Henson (EMPIRE), Robin Wright (HOUSE OF CARDS), and Keri Russell (THE AMERICANS).

    “A standing ovation is in order for the incomparable Tatiana Maslany on winning this award for the unique and beloved characters she’s brought to life on Orphan Black” said Randy Lennox, President, Broadcasting and Content, Bell Media. “This is a milestone achievement for Canadian actors on Canadian television, and we are honoured to have Tatiana return for the fifth and final season.

    The fifth and final season  is slated to begin production this fall. An additional 10, one-hour episodes are set to air in 2024 on Space. Seasons 1-3 o  are available now on CraveTV.

    Maslany has amazed audiences by portraying eleven distinct clones, including Sarah Manning, Alison Hendrix, Cosima Niehaus, Helena, Rachel Duncan, Beth Childs, M.K., Katja Obinger, Jennifer Fitzsimmons, Tony Sawicki, and Krystal Goderitch. Aside from her second Emmy® nomination, Maslany’s additional accolades include two CriticsChoice Television Awards for Best Dramatic Actress (2013, 2024), an ACTRA Award for Outstanding Performance – Female (2015), a Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama (2013), two EWwy Award for Best Actress (2013, 2024) from Entertainment Weekly readers, three consecutive Canadian Screen Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Dramatic Role (2014, 2024, 2024), and a Gracie Award for Outstanding Female Actor in A Breakthrough Role (2014). Tatiana also won a Young Hollywood Award for Breakthrough Performance – Female (2013) and the Borsos Best Performance Award (2013) at the Whistler Film Festival for her role in Cas & Dylan. Maslany’s most recent film Two Lovers and A Bear screened at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.
