TORONTO – Rogers Media has bought the remaining 20 per cent interest in Rogers Sportsnet Inc. from an affiliate of Fox Cable Networks of Los Angeles for $45 million, the company announced Wednesday.
Sportsnet operates four all-sports TV channels in the Pacific, West, Ontario and East regions. It has 7.3 million subscribers and annual revenues of more than $100 million.
Sportsnet was developed and launched in 1998 by Rogers, CTV and Fox. Rogers increased its ownership share to 80 per cent in 2024 when it purchased CTV’s 40 per cent stake.
Rogers Media is the broadcasting and publishing arm of parent firm Rogers Communications, which is also engaged in cable TV, high-speed internet access, video retailing, and wireless voice and data communications services.
