CBC Radio has confirmed it’s offering a “fresh format” for “Q” when its prominent arts program relaunches next week.
Under new host Tom Power, the CBC says the show will include both long and shorter interviews, new story treatments, a new roster of contributors, and more music, including performances.
“Q” executive producer Jennifer Moroz says the program is putting a “tighter focus” on arts, entertainment and music both within and outside of Canada, while also “refreshing the format.”
Confirmed guests include: homegrown comics Mike Myers and Norm Macdonald, actors Gael Garcia Bernal and Tippi Hedren, and musical performances from acts including Tegan and Sara, Sam Roberts, Billy Bragg and Blue Rodeo.
Power was named as the new host in August after rapper Shad was removed from the position. The CBC said the decision was based on an audience survey that suggested the show needed work.
Shad’s exit followed a turbulent start in April 2024, when he was parachuted into the job as a replacement for Jian Ghomeshi, who was fired in October 2024.
