TELETOON Announces ’07 Fall Line-up

  • The new TELETOON fall line-up hits TV screens across Canada beginning September 3 with five new daytime cartoons for kids and eight new shows premiering on The Detour on TELETOON, the post-9 pm programming block for teens and adults. Fall on TELETOON sees a total of 34 shows with all new episodes, including 13 new shows premiering on the network, 14 returning shows with new seasons and 7 ongoing series.

    TELETOON fans that can¿t wait until September can get a sneak peek on VOD, on their phones and on teletoon.com. This multi-platform fall sneak peek begins August 1st on Rogers Digital Cable On Demand, Shaw Video On Demand and on TELUS Mobile TV¿. Curious kids can watch the complete first episode of the brand new show, Ricky Sprocket, on teletoon.com beginning August 15.

    A new interactive SPIN CYCLE sees kids take control after school. SPIN CYCLE features a mix of choice picks from popular shows, like the TELETOON Original Productions¿ Johnny Test, Delilah & Julius, Chop Socky Chooks and Total Drama Island. Throughout the week, TELETOON viewers vote online at teletoon.com for their favourite show to air on Friday, and once a month, five kids each get to choose the shows for an entire weekday afternoon.

    Action gets an extra punch with Chaotic and Bakugan back to back every weeknight from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. While Sunday mornings are action packed with five full hours of top performers (6 am to 11 am) including all new episodes of Johnny Test and The Batman.

    To whet appetites for the launch of the brand new TELETOON Retro channel coming in October, viewers will see a TELETOON Retro hour at 7:30 pm every evening. With vintage favourites such as The Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show along with Super Friends and Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids, this nostalgic cartoon hour is set for prime family viewing.

    Back on TELETOON this fall is the network¿s number one show with kids aged 6-11, 6TEEN, returning for an all new third season. In the animated tween sitcom the gang ventures outside the mall as Caitlin takes on a sweet sixteen party turned sour, the guys indulge in a ¿man-off¿ contest to see who smells the best, and Nikki faces the horror of a plugged-up toilet and a crummy tummy.

    New daytime shows premiering on TELETOON include Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!, featuring a new-look and more gadget equipped Scooby and Shaggy, and the world premiere of Ricky Sprocket, a behind-the-scenes celebrity showbiz comedy following the life of the world¿s most famous child star. Other brand new shows include Squirrel Boy from Cartoon Network, Aardman Animations¿ Shaun the Sheep and Futz! from 9 Story Entertainment.

    Too hot for Daytime, The Detour on TELETOON unleashes eight new shows on its loyal adult and teen audience featuring titles from the much-loved Adult Swim roster such as the Canadian premieres of Frisky Dingo, Moral Orel, Sealab 2024 and Metalocalypse. New to fall schedule, Friday¿s F¿n Good Movie brings the best animation related feature films for teens and adults to the small screen at 9 pm and midnight. The Detour on TELETOON also welcomes back Chode, Six and the rest of the gang in new episodes of the cult sexy CGI sci-fi spoof Tripping the Rift, Thursdays at 9:30.

    New Daytime Shows Premiering on TELETOON

    Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! (Canadian Premiere)
    Scooby is back for a 10th edition and this time he and Shaggy have a whole new look. From Warner Bros. Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! sees a less cowardly Shaggy and Scooby use new inventions and an updated mystery machine to get to the bottom of suspicious activities. Starring the voices of Frank Welker (Megatron from Transformers) and Scott Menville, Shaggy and Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! premieres Sunday, September 8 at 8:30 am ET/PT and airs each Sunday at 8:30 am and 7 pm ET/PT.

    Ricky Sprocket (World Premiere)
    Produced by Studio B Productions and from the Oscar winning team behind Bob and Margaret, this brand new comedy takes a look behind the scenes at Ricky Sprocket, the world¿s biggest child movie star as he lives the life of the rich and famous but still needs to deal with everyday kid quandaries like an annoying sister and too much homework, along with the paparazzi. Saturdays at 12:30 pm and Sundays at 5 pm ET/PT.

    Squirrel Boy (Canadian Premiere)
    From Cartoon Network, Squirrel Boy tells the classic tale of one squirrel and his pet boy, observing the craziness caused by the super-confident Rodney J. Squirrel and the wide-eyed and innocent Andy. Premiering September 8 at 7:30 am ET/PT, Squirrel Boy goes nuts each Saturday at 7:30 am and 3 pm ET/PT.

    Shaun the Sheep (Canadian Premiere)
    From Aardman Animations Ltd., this seven minute sheep comedy follows Shaun, a sheep who doesn’t follow the flock but instead leads them into all sorts of scrapes, turning peace in the valley into mayhem in the meadow. Shaun the Sheep airs throughout the fall schedule.

    Futz! (World Premiere)
    These 3 minute shorts will air throughout fall and are sure to entertain kids as they watch the part genius, part idiot up to antics including becoming a ninja with a flexibility problem or a medieval knight with iron boxers. Produced by 9 Story Entertainment.

    New Shows for The Detour On TELETOON

    Metalocalypse (Canadian Premiere)
    Monday nights get metal as Dethklok, the world¿s biggest metal band, rocks the Detour at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT. For the ferociously popular five-piece band, life is full of darkness, pain, destruction and death as well as groupies, ear-shattering heavy metal and giant wads of cash. The 15 minute top-rating Adult Swim series is created by Brendon Small (Home Movies) and Tommy Blacha (Da Ali G Show) and is produced by Cartoon Network.

    Sealab 2024 (Canadian Premiere)
    The crew of the classic 1972 Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, Sealab 2024, has been replaced with a gang of misfits unfit for public service. Their mission is to investigate underwater colonization and they are doing a very bad job. Audiences can join Captain Hazel Hank Murphy, Derek Stormy Waters, Debbie DuPree and the rest of the Sealab crew as they attempt to uncover the mysteries of the sea and avoid pissing each other off, every Wednesday night at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT, from Cartoon Network.

    Frisky Dingo (Canadian Premiere)
    Created by Matt Thompson and Adam Reed (creators of Sealab 2024) This brand new 15 minute series from Cartoon Network follows the logistical hiccups of supervillian Killface, forced to market his brand of evil to find funds in order to propel the Earth into the sun. In the meantime, his nemesis, Awesome-X, is ambivalent about stopping Killface, as wiping him out might crush toy sales. Frisky Dingo airs on The Detour on TELETOON, Tuesday evenings at 10:15 pm and 12:15 am ET/PT.

    Moral Orel (Canadian Premiere)
    Created by Dino Stamatopoulos (Mr. Show, Tom Goes to the Mayor, and Late Night with Conan O’Brien) Moral Orel is an angelical stop motion animation that follows Orel, a nine year-old growing up in Moralton, a devoutly Christian town. Determined to follow God, Orel finds himself in all of scrapes from self mutilation to crack addiction all due to his confused devotion to scripture and earnest piety. From Cartoon Network, Moral Orel airs Tuesday nights at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT.

    Assy McGee (Canadian Premiere)
    In the big city, crime is running rampant. Drugs, robberies and murder are around every corner. Things are looking bleak. It¿s a good thing that Assy McGee is on the case ready to give the bad guys the bums steer. Created by Matt Harrigan (Space Ghost Coast to Coast) and Carl W. Adams, Assy is a tough yet romantic walking pair of buttocks not afraid to take crime head (bum?) on. Assy McGee tackles the mean streets Monday nights at 10:15 pm and 12:15 am ET/PT. Produced by Cartoon Network.

    Perfect Hair Forever (Canadian Premiere)
    To find a cure for his premature baldness, young Gerald embarks on a quest aided by various strange friends including Uncle Grandfather and Action Hotdog, all the while trying to avoid the evil Coiffio and his bizarre henchmen. Taking its cues from Japanese animation, Perfect Hair Forever is a frenetic and surreal trip into a warped world of anime conventions from Cartoon Network and airs Wednesday nights at 10:15 pm and 12:15 am ET/PT.

    Smoking Gun TV
    Smoking Gun TV is a half-hour series that embraces the ironic tone of the cult Smoking Gun website and exercises the full rights of the Freedom of Information Act. Posting items gleaned from government and law enforcement agencies as well as re-enacting celebrity misadventures with quirky, bubblehead animation, Smoking Gun TV airs Thursday nights at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT and is produced by Court TV USA.

    Minoriteam (Canadian Premiere)
    A crew of superheroes use the overwhelming force of racial stereotypes to defeat their sinister and racist nemesis, The White Shadow and his lackeys including Corporate Ladder, Standardized Test and Racist Frankenstein. Our heroes: Jewcano, Non-Stop, El Jefe and Fasto, led by the human calculator Dr. Wang, fight for all people of colour, except white people, unless they are Jewish. Premiering October 19, a double-bill of Minoriteam will air each Thursday night at 10 pm and midnight ET/PT and is a Cartoon Network production.
