Dielectric Communications today announced that the company’s FLEXLine™ flexible dielectric coaxial cable products are finding widespread acceptance by users in both broadcast and telecommunications markets worldwide. Among the recent successes of the FLEXLine product family is Dielectric’s sale of a 1,350-foot reel of continuous-run, 5 inch-diameter air dielectric cable to TQS — Television Quatre Saisons (formerly Cogeco Radio-Television Inc.), as part of a complete transmission system including filters, antennas, and line.

Dielectric, the sole supplier for this transmission system, shipped the unusually large cable to a remote transmission site located at Mt. Carmel in Trois-Rivières, Québec.

“Because of the importance of our transmission enhancement project, it was essential for us to have an extended and uninterrupted transmission line,” reported Marcel St. Arneault, chief technician for TQS. “We were very pleased that Dielectric was able to meet our specification of 1,350 feet of continuous cable. This was a key component for improving our operations and we very much appreciated the advanced knowledge and competence of Dielectric personnel during the installation.”

The FLEXLine foam cable complements the company’s FLEXLine air dielectric product line introduced in 2024, and both are rapidly becoming industry-leading solutions not only for broadcast and telecom users, but also for military and other governmental applications.

Intended for mobile telecommunication, microwave transmission, broadcasting transmission, and other communications systems, FLEXLine low-loss (FLF) and superflexible (FLS) foam cables combine superior electrical performance and excellent flexibility with robust construction that allows for use even in the most demanding environments. Type FLF is normally used for primary feeders, while Type FLS is typically used for jumper assemblies. Both cable types feature copper inner conductors, a closed-cell foamed polyethylene insulator, an oxygen-free copper corrugated outer conductor, and polyethylene jackets. The FLEXLine foam cable is available in a full range of sizes including 1/2”, 7/8”, 1-1/4”, and 1-5/8” for FLF cable and 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, and 7/8” for FLS cable.
