ITV Installs Leitch's CCS Navigator(tm)

    Leitch Technology Corporation today announced that ITV, the largest commercial television network in the UK, has chosen
    CCS Navigator(tm), Leitch's leading Command Control System(tm) software application, to provide centralised remote control and monitoring of equipment at diverse locations across the ITV network.
    CCS Navigator supports multiple network protocols to provide configuration, control and monitoring of system infrastructure. Navigator's powerful control system and intuitive user interfaces have been integrated across all of the Leitch product platforms to provide customers easier operation for
    truly Integrated Content Environments.
    Ken Orrell, transmission operations manager for ITV, said, "The chief benefit of Navigator is its ability to monitor our entire system and switch to alternative routes in the event of equipment failure. Moreover, the consolidation of network-wide control and status monitoring significantly
    increases our operational efficiency."
    Navigator's powerful, user-customisable and intuitive graphical interfaces enable staff at one location to switch routers, and control and monitor frames and card functions at other locations, many miles away. The individual sites are linked by a dedicated BT link providing SDI video with embedded audio, plus video monitoring using MPEG-4 over IP.
    Navigator, with its ability to create any GUI interface and ingest bitmap and JPEG files, allowed for customisation exactly as required by ITV. ITV engineers have configured Navigator for different operational levels including the Engineering Schematic, Basic System Schematic, Emergency Procedures, and System Overview. ITV engineering's Autocad drawing of its system was ingested and fault-alarm hot spots were inserted at equipment
    junctions. ITV's entire signal path can now be monitored at every function simply by clicking a mouse through the hot spots.
    Leitch's Command Control System (CCS) is a powerful system of hardware control panels and software applications that control and monitor CCS-enabled and SNMP-enabled devices on a network from anywhere in the world.
