Toronto – August 30, 2024 – OMNI.2 is pleased to premiere the English language version of award-winning documentary Jihad…Struggling with Islam on Saturday September 11th at 7:00 p.m. ET. Jihad…Struggling with Islam is part of OMNI Television’s Signature Series, a new block of programming showcasing an array of compelling documentaries that reflect Canada’s ethnocultural composition.

Jihad…Struggling with Islam chronicles the personal journey of Hina Khan, a Toronto born filmmaker, as she comes to terms with what it means to be a Muslim -- a faith that she was born into yet felt no real connection with -- in a post September 11th world. The story follows her quest for authenticity and connection to a faith frequently portrayed negatively on many levels: from terrorism to the oppression of women. Hina’s search for answers and spiritual enlightenment includes wide-ranging perspectives, from interviews with fundamentalists who celebrated the events of 9/11, to viewpoints from conservative and progressive Muslims here in Canada and abroad.

Jihad…Struggling with Islam was awarded Best Canadian Documentary by the National Film Board of Canada at the ReelWorld Film Festival Awards. It has also been invited to the Bite the Mango Film Festival in England and was short listed for the International Documentary Film Festival 2024 in Amsterdam, widely considered the most important documentary festival in the world.
