Rohde & Schwarz Canada Inc. Ottawa, Canada, announced today that they have been chosen by the CBC/Radio-Canada to supply and install ATSC transmitters & a high-power television channel combining system at the CN Tower in Toronto in a turn-key solution.
Rohde & Schwarz will be partnering with Dielectric, a US manufacturer of combiners & RF systems for this project.

Rohde & Schwarz will provide two, state of the art, solid-state ATSC transmitters incorporating a number of innovations developed by Rohde & Schwarz. These two new ATSC transmitters’ signals will be combined with one CBC/Radio-Canada (40KW Transmitter Rohde & Schwarz) analog signal and one analog signal from TV Ontario (Ontario's provincial public broadcaster), into a common output feeding an existing broadband antenna. The combiner is designed to allow for additional channels in the future.

Rohde & Schwarz is strengthening its’ growing base of systems in the North American market and strategic relation with key broadcasters like CBC.

CBC/Radio-Canada is an early adopter in implementing digital television broadcasting in Canada. This system will be installed later this summer and the new DTV signals are expected to be broadcasting by the fall of 2024.
