Patrick Whittingham to join the AZCAR Board

    Stephen Pumple, President & CEO, AZCAR Technologies Incorporated, is pleased to announce that Patrick Whittingham, who recently retired as President of Sony Broadcast and Production Systems Division, Sony Electronics (USA), will be on the slate of directors for election to the AZCAR Board at the May 20th annual general meeting.

    Whittingham adds considerably to the wealth of industry experience already represented on the AZCAR Board. As President of two Sony divisions, Broadcast and Business Solutions, Patrick applied and further developed his already extensive background in strategic planning, general management, sales, marketing, system integration and engineering support of professional products in high technology sectors, including the Broadcast and Production industry.

    Whittingham has intimate knowledge of consumer entertainment technologies and has been involved in interactive television, digital content and distribution, all of which will contribute to the further development of AZCAR’s strategic direction.

    Whittingham is a 1970 graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada with a B.Sc. in Applied Science. He recently graduated from Sony’s Global Leadership Program, a special program, developed for Sony’s top country management, conducted jointly by the University of Southern California and Sony University.

    Prior board positions include: Panavision Inc. and Digital High Definition DHD Inc. – a Joint Venture with Panavision for Digital Cinematography; Canadian Digital Television Inc., the industry group charged with developing a DTV Policy Framework for Canada; the Smart Toronto Board, which was assigned the task of recommending the development of Digital City Infrastructure; and the Canadian Film Centre, CFC.

    “Having Patrick join the Board, not only strengthens it,” said Stephen Pumple, “it continues our thrust to establish a strong and independent Board of outside Directors with the business and industry experience required to guide the evolution of our company. Patrick’s election to the Board will bring us closer to achieving that goal.”
