Mediabase will meet and exceed lofty expectations,” said Meyer. “At present, Mediabase is monitoring more than 125 Canadian radio stations in more than 25 markets. On the radio side, we have a very strong partner in Sound Source, and have realized signed agreements to provide data for Standard, Chum Radio Group, and more to be announced soon.” The immediate success of Mediabase in Canada has exceeded company expectations, according to Meyer, who created the concept of mass-monitoring radio airplay in 1987. It is currently the research arm of Premiere Radio Networks, headquartered in southern California, and monitors music on more than 1,600 radio stations in 165 U.S. and Canadian markets 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In addition to providing vital airplay information to the music industry, the company provides research to more than 1,700 affiliate radio stations on a barter subscription basis.
