The widescreen Sony LUMA LMD-320W model, with a 16:9 aspect ratio, features high brightness and contrast, with improved black reproduction. Well-suited for use in a tiled or video wall configuration, it can be a multi-screen monitor, floor monitor, a main studio monitor or a wall monitor. The Sony LUMA LMD-210 model, with a 4:3 aspect ratio, also features high brightness and contrast, with improved black reproduction. The monitor is designed for applications in the production, research and industrial markets, and provides an easy upgrade path from standard definition to HD work. "These new models expand the range of applications for professional users to maximize the benefits of LCD technology, specifically low weight, low power consumption and installation flexibility," said Ivan Reel, Product Manager, Professional Displays, Communication Information Solutions Group, Sony of Canada Ltd. These multi-format monitors can accommodate a variety of standard and high-definition analog and digital signals, including 1080/60i, 720/60P, and 1080/24PsF, making them desirable for NLE (Non Linear Editors) suites and desktop production environments. Both monitors feature a protection panel, and are available with optional monitor stands. These new LUMA monitors round out the other products in Sony's LMD series of LCD monitors, which include the LMD-170WS and the LMD-230WS -- two widescreen models (17 and 23 inches, respectively, viewable area, measured diagonally) that were introduced last year. Last year, Sony also introduced three rack-mountable combination packages for confidence monitoring: the LMD-440 quad-screen, four-inch panel, the LMD-530 triple-screen, 5.6-inch panel, and the LMD-720W dual, seven-inch widescreen (viewable area, measured diagonally). The LMD-320W and LMD-210 monitors will be available in July at suggested list prices of $9,449 and $4,899, respectively. For further information, please visit www.sony.ca/luma.
