Toronto (February 9th, 2024) – OMNI.1 is pleased to announce that beginning Monday, February 16th, OMNI viewers will be treated to an additional hour of Italian news and current affairs programming weekdays at 3pm called Pomeriggio Italiano.

Pomeriggio Italiano is a new daily show dedicated to deliver the latest news from Italy as well as covering stories that affect the Italian community here at home. RAI International is the source of this new international coverage coming directly from Rome, Monday thru Friday. The TG1 newscast will air in the first half-hour, right after a local news update, and will bring viewers up-to-date with the most recent news and events from Italy.

“It is an exciting time for OMNI Television’s Italian news team,” said Renato Zane, Vice President of News for Rogers Media Television. “This new block of programming allows OMNI.1 to meet the needs of our Italian viewers by providing them with current, fresh and most importantly quality news coverage from their homeland.”

Other segments featured in this hour long broadcast will include daily topical features of interest to the local Italian community.

“It is a privilege to bring TG1 to our audiences. It’s the most recognized news program in Italy. We think it’s a perfect fit with our OMNI News programming, which has been steadily growing in popularity.” said Madeline Ziniak, Vice President and General Manager for Rogers Media Television.

OMNI NEWS: Italian Edition, Ontario's favourite Italian-language television newscast, will continue to air in its regular timeslot weeknights at 8pm.
