Zone3 Announces Opening of Toronto Office and Appointment of Industry Veteran

    Montreal TV production house Zone3 announced the hire of a Toronto- based executive this month to expand its English-language programming and production in the Canadian market. Industry veteran Emily Morgan will take on the role of Executive Producer, National Productions and will report to Julian Locke, Executive Vice-President, Head of Zone3 USA, to develop & oversee the production of factual entertainment for the Canadian market.

    Emily Morgan brings a wealth of experience to her role as the newest member of the Zone3 English-language team. In her most recent role as Senior Director of Shaw Media’s Lifestyle channels she was responsible for development and production on all Canadian original programs including the successful franchises Top Chef Canada, Chopped Canada and the hugely successful Big Brother Canada which aired on Global. Other original hit shows she has overseen include HGTV’s Timber Kings and House of Bryan, Food Network’s Food Factory and You Gotta Eat Here as well as The Real Housewives of Vancouver for Slice Network. Before taking over the Lifestyle Group, Emily was the Vice President of Programming of Food Network Canada, HGTV and DIY Canada for Canwest and Vice-President of Programming: Showcase Action, Diva and IFC for Alliance Atlantis, where she oversaw the successful launch of those services. Her more than 20 years of industry experience include a stint at Canadian Heritage in the Broadcasting Policy branch as well as three years as Director of Programming for Pay TV start-up Movievision Pty in Sydney, Australia.

    Zone3 President, Michel Bissonnette stated that “With our years of experience in TV production along with Emily’s vast knowledge of the Canadian factual TV landscape we’re the perfect team to bring some great new TV shows to the Canadian market. And with the various platforms available to us now, it’s a great time for us to be expanding to the rest of Canada.

    Zone3 has over 55 French-language productions and is the largest production house in Quebec. Its English-language TV shows include Match Game on the Comedy Network and God, Guns and Automobiles on the History channel in the US. Zone3 has just wrapped production on the show Almost Genius for Corus and has several development deals with various broadcasters in Canada and the US.
