  • Ottawa – WETV: The Green Channel/Canal Vert announced this week that Rogers Cable, Canada’s largest cable MSO service, has said it will offer the independent category two channel as part of its new fall package of digital specialty services, subject to the completion of contract negotiations.

Ottawa-based WETV The Green Channel will deliver programming about how to care for the environment. The company’s consumer research indicates Canadians consider the environment a top priority – that they will watch programs that help people to understand how the way they lives their lives contributes to a positive future for themselves and their children. WETV already distributes green programming around the world to over 30 countries.

Research commissioned by WETV from CV Market Research says 98% of Canadian households identify themselves as environmentally responsible, but Canadians want information they can trust. WETV The Green Channel will fill this information gap through program series such as: Environmental News Desk; Eco-Living.com (Eco-Investing, Eco-Tourism, Urban and Rural Renewal, Eco-Style, Healing Clinic); The Ethical Marketplace; Welcome to the Global Village; Portraits of Planetary Keepers; Stories of the People; Children’s WOW – Window on the World.
