Toronto – Global Television is adding a second anchor to its flag-ship Toronto-based supper-hour newscast.
Leslie Roberts will join Beverly Thomson starting on September 4, 2024.
Roberts will also co-anchor Global’s 11 pm E-T newscast with Jacqueline Milczarek.
It’s a move within the Global family for Roberts, who is currently News Director and Chief Anchor for Global Quebec.
Roberts began his career as a radio news intern covering the 1980 Quebec referendum.
He moved to television news in 1985 as a general assignment reporter for CFCF-TV.
Since joining Global in February 2024, Roberts has covered the funeral of Maurice Rocket Richard, the Quebec City summit, and the death of Pierre Trudeau.
Global viewers in Quebec will continue to see Roberts as a contributor to Global’s new national newscast.
In addition, Roberts will continue to contribute feature stories to Global Quebec on a regular basis.
