  • Canada’s most watched news brand is also Canada’s

most trusted. CTV revealed today its industry-leading “CTV News” brand was named Canadians’ most trusted source for news. The results are courtesy of The TV Quality Report (TVQ), an industry-recognized national study that reports annually on attitudes toward television. The same report also named CTV as the No. 1 ranked television service for programming that is most satisfying to Canadians.

The TVQ Report revealed that CTV is the network whose news viewers trust the most (27.1%), with CBC a distant second (18.2%).

Today’s news arrives on the heels of the latest ratings data that confirms CTV News delivers Canada’s most watched local and national newscasts
throughout the day. In fact, CTV Evening News continues to be Canada’s highest rated newscast, the only newscast to make Canada’s Top 20 list of programs – something it does each and every week. According to Nielsen Media Research data, an average of 1.57 million Canadians are watching CTV Evening News every weeknight (ranked No. 17 on the Top 20), 57 per cent ahead of Global’s local evening newscast (Ranked No. 34) and 123 per cent ahead of Global National (Ranked No. 51). In the Toronto market, Canada’s largest and most competitive television region, Nielsen data confirms that 355,000 viewers watch CTV Evening News
every weeknight, 89 per cent more viewers than second-ranked Global News and a full 163 per cent more viewers than Global National. A similar gap between CTV and its competitors are mirrored in nearly every major market in Canada.
