  • Today, the Canada Media Fund  and NZ On Air (New Zealand) announced the renewal of their joint incentive for digital media coproduction.

The total amount of funding available is $1M (CAD), with $500,000 contributed by each the CMF and NZ On Air to fund up to 3 eligible projects. The total maximum contribution for each funded project shall be CDN $400,000. The contribution from each funding organization to each project will be determined on a case by case basis.

“The CMF is committed to building on the success of the Canada/New Zealand partnership that was established last year.” said CMF President and CEO Valerie Creighton. “We are delighted to respond to the overwhelming interest from producers from both countries by renewing our agreement again this year. I would like to thank NZ On Air Chief Executive Jane Wrightson and her team for working with the CMF and providing this opportunity for our production communities to do business together.”

“This has been an exciting and innovative fund to manage with CMF. The response to the initiative from New Zealand content producers was overwhelmingly positive. We looked forward to more great collaborations in the coming year, ” said NZ On Air Chief Executive Jane Wrightson.

The initiative is now open to receive applications. The deadline for submission of ideas is November 17, 2024. A selection committee of CMF and NZ On Air representatives will assess and shortlist projects to go through to the next stage. Shortlisted applicants will have until mid-February to provide full proposals, up to three of which will receive funding.

Producers interested in finding an international coproducer as part of this funding incentive are invited to post a profile of their company on the CMF’s website by clicking here. Profiles will be accessible to all, including potential partners from other countries.
