  • How are you celebrating mom this Mother’s Day? Twenty-five per cent of Canadian moms say they would prefer a phone call from their children on Mother’s Day over flowers (13 per cent), so this year, Rogers is helping its wireless customers connect with the special women in their lives by offering an hour of free long-distance calling across Canada and to most places around the world on May 8.

“Our customers’ time is valuable, so we work hard to help them stay connected to their families every day – whether it’s a text to say the train is late or sending a photo to grandparents,” said Leroy Williams, Vice-President Rogers Marketing, Rogers Communications. “We want to help families come together onMother’s Day, no matter the distance.  Whether your mom is in Michigan, like mine, or across the pond, we want to make it easier to pick up the phone and call her, with long-distance calling on us.”

And how are kids planning on wishing mom a “Happy Mother’s Day” and showing how much they care?  A recent study shows spending time together and making a phone call top the list – 53 per cent plan on visiting mom, 44 per cent plan on phoning her, 20 per cent plan on sending a letter or card, and 11 per cent plan on texting or emailing her.

On May 8, Rogers postpaid wireless customers will get an hour of free long-distance calling for calls made from their wireless phone within Canada on the Rogers network to domestic and over 200 international destinations.  Customers can choose to make their hour-long call any time they want on May 8 and will automatically be zero-rated for one hour of long-distance charges on their next invoice.
