Bell Media’s The Harold Greenberg Fund, in partnership with premium pay television network The Movie Network, announced today the latest recipients of The Harold Greenberg Fund’s Shorts-to-Features Program, a distinctive funding program designed to support up-and-coming Canadian filmmaking talent by funding a short film project with feature-length potential.
Each recipient receives $32,000 towards the production of their short film projects, with an additional $5,000 contribution toward the script development of the recipient’s feature film versions. This year’s chosen short films are: The Drop-In, from writer-director Naledi Jackson, producer Priscilla Galvez, and executive producer Daniel Iron; A Blessing From the Sea, from writer-director Adam Perry, writer-producer Jason Arsenault, and producer Jenna MacMillan; andLira’s Forest, from acclaimed actor and writer-director Connor Jessup, producer Ashley Shields-Muir, and executive producer Albert Shin.

The Harold Greenberg Fund has been an instrumental supporter of industry training, project development and promotional initiatives. In addition to the Fund’s Script Development and Equity Investment Programs, the Industry Initiatives Program invests $200,000 each year in the Canadian film and television industry. Funded by The Movie Network, this program is reviewed annually by the English-Language Committee, including Suzette Couture, Damon D’Oliveira, Melanie Friesen, John Galway, Richie Mehta, Jane Tattersall, and Corrie Coe.
