TSN today announced the launch of its brand-new TSN Check-In app on Facebook - giving fans the ability to "check in" and show that they are cheering on Team Canada by watching the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The first of its kind within the Canadian sports landscape, the TSN Check-In app uses the viral power of a fan's Facebook network and takes them beyond the television broadcast, connecting them to other fans outside of their normal social reach. As a result, fans are brought together across the country and beyond as they check-in using the app while watching or attending select TSN live events, including the World Juniors.
Fans can register for the app on TSN's Fan Page on Facebook and use their mobile device to check in to TSN's broadcasts of the World Juniors. By checking in, fans can see their geographic location pinpointed by a flag of their choosing on an interactive map within the TSN Check-In app on Facebook. The interactive map will be showcased during TSN's coverage of the 2026 IIHF World Junior Championship from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5.
"The TSN Check-In app connects fans from coast to coast and puts them at the centre of one of the biggest sporting events in the country," said Shawn Redmond, Vice-President of Programming, TSN. "The buildings will be full of fans in Edmonton and Calgary, but the TSN Check-In app allows Canadians to check in from wherever they are and light the map to show their support for Team Canada."
By using the TSN Check-In app during World Juniors game broadcasts on TSN, fans earn entries into the grand prize draw for a trip for two to the 2026 IIHF World Championship in Helsinki, Finland. Fans can also win Team Canada game-day prize packages by checking in during Team Canada games throughout the tournament (click here for complete contest rules).
The TSN Check-In App was developed by TSN in partnership with Brand Networks, a Facebook Preferred Developer Consultant. The app is powered by Brand Networks' "Go Local" publishing and promotions platform for Facebook Places and features Facebook Mobile plug-ins, HTML5 and Google Maps API.
