WIFT-T Announce Winner of Producers Internship

Women in Film and Television - Toronto ( WIFT-T) is pleased to announce Barbra Cooper as the winner of The Producers Internship, presented by Deluxe in partnership with Tattersall Sound and Picture, and PS Production Services.

"Deluxe Toronto is honoured to participate with WIFT-T on the Producers Internship Program," said Deluxe Manager Roberta Bratti. "We look forward to working with Barbra Cooper and we will make certain that her time spent in our film lab, sound mixing and Digital Intermediate stages will be very productive."

"Post production is highly technical and tremendously important to filmmaking, yet remains a black hole, a single line item, to many filmmakers. Many have no idea of the effect of picture editing, dialogue editing, and great sound design and mix on an audience's film experience," said Jane Tattersall, President, Tattersall Sound and Picture . "We are pleased to give a promising producer hands-on exposure to the technology and the craft of post-production so that she can make an educated decision when spending precious production resources."

"PS Production Services Ltd. congratulates Barbra Cooper on her remarkable accomplishment in winning the WIFT-T Producers Internship," said Douglas Barrett, President and CEO, PS Production Services. "We welcome the opportunity to help nurture the talents of up-and-coming filmmakers like Barbra and look forward to her arrival at PS."

After a year-long contract at the CBC as a Business Manager of Independent Productions in the Toronto Production Centre, Cooper founded Lush Art & Entertainment. She recently wrote, directed and produced The Pellatt Newsreel, a docudrama on the life story of Sir Henry Pellatt, the man who built Casa Loma. Cooper is a graduate of McMaster University's Master in Business Administration and Ryerson University's Film Studies Certificate programs.

The Producers Internship will provide Cooper with coveted hands-on experience and training by giving her the opportunity to join three outstanding companies – Deluxe, Tattersall Sound and Picture, and PS Production Services – as an intern to learn about production equipment planning and requirements, and post production video, film and sound. From November 20 to December 8, 2024, Cooper will spend one week with each partner for a total of three weeks. She will also receive a $1,000 honorarium and a WIFT-T programming pass valued at $1,200.
