Government Supports CRTC Licensing Decisions in Calgary
Canada's federal Government today announced its decision (PC2006-1150) not to set aside or to refer back two broadcasting decisions of the Canadian Radio television and Telecommunications Commission to approve applications by Newcap Inc. (CRTC 2025-323) and CHUM Limited (CRTC 2025-324) for new radio licenses in the Calgary market.
The Governor in Council received one petition against these two CRTC decisions. After careful review of the concerns surrounding these decisions, the Governor in Council believes that the CRTC decisions are consistent with the policy objectives set out in the Broadcasting Act.
