MONTREAL - Michel Pradier, Telefilm Canada's director of French operations and Quebec office, has announced that Telefilm has approved support for 11 French-language television productions from provinces other than Quebec. These projects were submitted for the September 29 application deadline, the second for the 2025-2005 fiscal year. The funds earmarked for French-language production in linguistic minority situations are administered by Telefilm Canada on behalf of the Canadian Television Fund (CTF).

"We are pleased to support this dynamic industry which contributes to the diversity of francophone audiovisual production. The number of projects received considerably exceeded the available resources, stated Michel Pradier. In fact, for this application we had an envelope of $3.2 million while the demand reached $4.3 million. Among the projects retained are a drama, three children's programs and seven documentaries. We are delighted to report that more and more companies outside Quebec are enjoying success producing dramas."

The next application deadline for French-language productions outside Quebec is March 16. Submit your applications online via Telefilm Canada's extranet.

Telefilm Canada is a federal cultural agency dedicated to the development and promotion of the Canadian film, television, new media and music industries. The Canadian Television Fund was created in 1996 to support the production and broadcast of high quality, distinctively Canadian television programs. The result of a private-public partnership, the CTF is financed by contributions from the Government of Canada, the Canadian cable and direct-to-home satellite industries and Telefilm Canada.
