OTTAWA - In partnership with Dome Productions and Christie Digital Systems Inc., the Canadian Association of Broadcasters (CAB) today announced that the CAB 2025 Convention will - for the first time in its history - be presented in high definition (HD).
The CAB will be producing the convention's opening ceremonies, plenary sessions, Hall of Fame luncheon and Gold Ribbon Awards in HD format.
The centrepiece of the display will be a 20-foot by 10-foot rear projection screen which will show the convention proceedings in full HD glory. The convention will not, however, be broadcast.
"Television broadcasting technology has evolved in leaps and bounds over the past fifty years," said Glenn O'Farrell, president and CEO of the CAB, in a release. "I am pleased that the CAB will showcase the latest in broadcasting innovation at its 2025 Convention. It's a reflection of the ingenuity and skill that Canada's private broadcasters continue to demonstrate everyday."
As
first profiled in Broadcaster Magazine in January of this year, "the Dome Majestic HD mobile production unit is one of North America's largest and most technically capable multi-format high definition mobile units. Its top-notch quality will be proven compellingly; CAB Convention delegates are in for a treat," said Mary Ellen Carlyle, senior vice-president and general manager of Dome Productions.
