CBC applies for HD licenses in Montreal, Vancouver

GATINEAU - In a release today, the CRTC said today it will hear - among many other things - applications made by the CBC for "transitional digital television" licenses for Montreal and Vancouver on September 7th.

The CBC has applied for an English language and French language transitional digital license in Montreal and for an English language one in Vancouver. While such licenses would allow CBC to digitally multicast, the licenses are primarily for high definition broadcasting.
