Toronto, � Rogers Cable and CBC Television announced today that they are offering CBC programming through the Rogers Video on Demand (VOD) service. Rogers Digital Cable customers in central Toronto will have access to CBC programming "on demand." To coincide with the Stanley Cup Playoffs, a special hockey package will feature more than three-and-a-half hours of CBC documentaries highlighting Canada's national pastime.

Programming in the hockey package � Hockey Night Fever � includes Fathers, Sons & Hockey, a look at the special relationship that develops when a father teaches a son to play hockey. Also featured is The Rocket, which chronicles the life of Maurice Richard, the man whose brilliance on the ice led the Montreal Canadiens to eight Stanley Cups and made him an icon in French Canada.

In addition to the hockey package, Video on Demand is offering War and Consequences, a collection of CBC Television News, Current Affairs and Newsworld pieces that have aired over the past few years. Upcoming themed packages will include Amazing Space and On a Mission, a look at the individuals and groups who champion causes.

"We are pleased to be involved with Video On Demand. It's an exciting new venture that provides us with yet another vehicle for delivering CBC Television's programming to Canadian viewers," said Fred Mattocks, executive director, production and resources, CBC Television.

"Video on Demand provides our customers with a universe of different entertainment choices not available by broadcast on traditional television service," said Michael Lee, Vice-President of Product Development, Rogers Cable Inc. "It offers the convenience to fully control what they want, when they want. The CBC hockey content is a great example of the variety of programming that will be coming to the VOD service and will give Rogers customers access to valuable programming which cannot be seen anywhere else."

VOD is available to approximately 604,000 households passed by the Rogers Cable network in central Toronto and there is no additional charge for Rogers Digital Cable customers to access VOD.
