OTTAWA - One of the CBC's award-winning journalists, Susan Murray, has left the public broadcaster for a government job.

She will soon take over as communications director for MP and cabinet minister Scott Brison, the minister of public works and government services.

According to the CBC web site, Murray is an award-winning journalist with more than 25 years' experience covering the news for both CBC Radio and CBC Television. She has been based in all regions of Canada as well in Washington, D.C.

Murray has covered such stories as the fall of the Berlin Wall, the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, the first Gulf War and the Chiapas revolution. She was the first woman to win the Charles Lynch Award, given to recognize a life-long career of distinguished journalism.

Murray had been the senior reporter for the Parliamentary bureau of CBC Radio in Ottawa.
