  • The Shopping Channel, the interactive, multi-channel retail service with both online and TV properties, continues its growth and expansion with the appointment of a new President.

Keith Pelley, President of Rogers Media Inc., has named Steven Goldsmith President of The Shopping Channel, effective immediately. Goldsmith reports to Pelley and serves as a key member of the Rogers Media Senior Leadership Team.

Goldsmith is responsible for overseeing the multiplatform retail strategy of The Shopping Channel and leading all operational elements of the business, including core merchandising, e-commerce and mobile merchandising, on-air production, cable operator alliances, customer care, logistics, warehousing and the National Distribution Centre.

The Shopping Channel’s studio facilities, with both on-air and pre-tape production capabilities, have undergone significant expansion recently.

A seasoned retail and merchandising executive, Goldsmith has nearly 25 years of experience. Prior to joining The Shopping Channel, Goldsmith was Executive Vice-President, Merchandising, Apparel and Accessories at Sears Canada Inc., where he was responsible for style, trend direction, and overall merchandising for a variety of women’s, men’s and children’s products. Prior to that, he served for four years as Executive Vice-President, Limited Brands Direct, where he led the marketing and merchandising, web expression and web support for Victoria’s Secret Direct and Bath & Body Works Direct.

“Steven has an incredibly deep understanding of retail merchandising, what customers want, and how to deliver it,” said Pelley. “He has demonstrated outstanding instincts and prowess in strategically leveraging both traditional and newer digital platforms to drive results at leading North American retailers. Steven is a natural fit to lead the evolution of The Shopping Channel.”

Goldsmith spent the first decade of his retail career at the May Department Stores company at the Lord & Taylor, Filene’s, and Foley’s divisions, in merchandising roles in menswear, jewellery, watches, cosmetics, and fragrances. He has also worked for other leading North American brands, including Amazon, and ShopNBC.
