RTDNA Canada is pleased to announce that Kayla Hounsell has been selected as the recipient of the 2024 RTDNA Canada President’s Fellowship. The Fellowship of up to $3,000 is offered annually to a working electronic journalist to attend a seminar at the Poynter Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. Poynter offers an assortment of seminars on issues ranging from Leadership and Management, to Reporting Writing and Editing, to Ethics and Diversity, among others.
Hounsell, a reporter/week-end anchor at CTV Atlantic in Halifax, has covered a lot of ground in her short career. “Kayla’s work experience, her volunteer commitments and her passion to continue to grow and garner knowledge make her the perfect candidate for the President’s Fellowship”, said Ian Koenigsfest, RTDNA Canada President. “I’m sure whatever Kayla learns at Poynter, she will quickly be passing on that information to her colleagues as she is a strong believer in professional development and re-invigorating journalism.”
The award will be presented at the RTDNA President’s Gala on Friday, June 14, 2024 in conjunction with the RTDNA National Conference at the Metropolitan Hotel in Toronto, June 13-15, 2024.
