I watch a lot of golf, and it’s a disaster when Global hijacks the US feed. Especially on Sunday, if it runs late or goes to a playoff. I ALWAYS watch on the US channel, even if it is a simsub. How many times at 8:00 pm, in the middle of someone’s backswing – we cut to the intro of the Simpsons because of Global. Two minutes later, they return the US feed, but we missed key shots. We MUST put an end to simsub.

I watch the game because I enjoy the game and don’t have the choice to view the US commercials unless I drive to the US. I also agree with Jim Todd about Canadian broadcasters cutting to commercial early and returning late

I have never been in favour of simsub, particularly during sports programing. All too often TSN switches to commercial early, walking over colour commentary, and returns late leaving us wondering what we have missed during the extended commercial break.

Simsub for broadcast channels might be justified during regular network programming but should not be allowed during live special events such as award shows or live sports. Monitoring time of switches is important as well. Time changes due to special news bulletins can create offsets of several minutes that are, at times, ignored or not noticed by cable and satellite providers. They need a person watching all switches full time instead of looking in every few minutes.
