Consumers certainly did benefit from a 4th carrier. Almost one million Wind Customers alone. Not to mention those those consumers who shopped at Virgin, Fido and Koodo. Would those brands and prices be around without a 4th carrier? Now we have some real money and backing coming to the 4th carrier expect more whining. This just sounds like Pseudo News to me.

Cellphone rates are significantly lower in Winnipeg because of competition between MTS (the local telephone company) and the national carriers, although this may change if Bell’s acquisition of MTS is approved. In Toronto, low prices by new carriers forced the national carriers to respond, although not to the same degree as in Winnipeg.
